18th July 2021 - Session 20 - The Grand Dame - Brian

The night continued with Graupel standing there reminiscing fondly about the events of the last hour or two, much to the bemusement of the crowd standing around.

Graupel finishes recounting our highly illegal tale and begins really making a balls of practicing the lute. One of the lutists, Cassie, takes pity on her and decides to help her learn.

Kin, having just knocked out a rower, grabbed the oars and got ready to row so as not to attract attention. Dunbarr does a status check with everyone and coordinates where help might be if anyone needs it.

Dipple is a masterclass in deception and continues upstairs with some Vol au Vents. He eats one sneakily on the way, thoroughly hoping that there wasn’t an exact number. He goes upstairs and offers the captain some snacks before continuing down a corridor. In the first room there is some banging, silence in the second room and possibly hears a splash of some kind in the third. At the last door, Dipple hears some god awful lute playing as if someone was just smashing their face into it. He circles back to the previous rooms, successfully finds some hammocks and is removed by a burly deckhand. He passes out food in the music hall and finds Graupel who explains the clusterfuck and they attempt to plan in case the luting doesn’t go well

Bearnabus spots the purple lass we are looking for at the expensive table. Moonstar fancies her chances with a game of Sava and bumbles her way through an introduction. Pao ming is sceptical of their conversation as she buys some chips but does express an interest in snakes. Bearnabus tries to join the table with the purple dress Lady (Lady Atalia). Side note: the old lad Lord Hubbard is crap at Sava and leaves in case he loses too much and has to move back in with his old mother who lives in a shoe.

Kin and Dunbarr are rowing but Kin is not managing well and a deckhand spots him. Kin gets interrogated and gets warned for his sass and takes up rowing again. Kin and Dunbarr really start wondering about the plan. After some telepathic communication, they do nothing.

Cassie belts out a real banger. Dipple attempts to break into a room but lacks thieves tool so decides to talk up Graupel to some of the most influential lords and ladies. He convinces them successfully to enjoy Graupel when she plays. Dipple updates Graupel and says if all else fails he’s unleashing elks on the party so get ready to run.

Bearnabus chats to Atalia. Atalia offers to teach Bearnabus some Sava. They discuss much and nothing and natter long into the next 5 minutes. Bearnabus spots the pendant we are looking for around the neck of Atalia. Atalia mutters something (likely a spell or curse or message) Atalia asks Bearnabus secretly to follow her once off the boat. Bearnabus agrees and they play Sava and Bearnabus wins.

The deckhand has wandered off from watching Kin and Dunbarr. Dunbarr goes exploring the rest of the lower half of the boat and finds 3 doors, probably toilets. Dunbarr checks in with everyone and they share updates on positions. Kin sneaks up to the deck to try to get up to the locked room on the top deck. Kin scopes out the rooms on the middle floor from the outside. Kin climbs up the front of the boat. A feat of impressive athletics and stealth and he spies on the captain in the cabin.

Graupel absolutely massacres a song up on stage and the crowd look very uncomfortable. Dipple convinces a few to applaud the style of sound that Graupel is making. Buoyed by the support, Graupel plays a second tune that really wows the crowd. Raucous applause ensues. Dipple sneaks out into the corridor and spots Kin. Dipple acts as a lookout while Kin tries to break into the locked room. The first two attempts don’t work and the pair are caught by a deckhand who advises that Lord Drylunds room is out of bounds for all staff and his octopus will fuck us up if we try to mess with him. Kin returns to rowing and Dipple goes back to the upper dance room.

Bearnabus continues to do a bit of gambling and plays some knucklebone. He turns out to be quite successful at it with some fantastic rolls. Bearnabus attempts to bribe some casino goers for info and makes it weird.

Graupel tries to get Cassie to part with her lute but instead gets directions to a little music shop in Yartar.

Dipple talks to a few other servers ) to get more info but they just say that Lord Drylund is a bad fella and Lady Atalia knows who to watch out for.

Kin and Dunbarr row us in while Lady Atalia starts making her way towards the gangplank. Kin jumps off the side of the ship with almost zero splashes and the sneakiest stealth. Kin swims to shore with all the weapons.

Dipple does a cool illusion with a tray after bamboozling the chef and runs away off the boat. Graupel and Bearnabus both get paid.

Atalia is strolling back towards Yatar. Bearnabus follows with Dunbarr, Dipple and Graupel close behind. Kin is making his way out of the water to catch up.
