14th January 2022 - Session 35 - Preparing for the Valley of Khedrun - Ciara

During the night Harshnag paces through the keep unable to sleep.  Dipple and Kin both hear him, and Dipple goes to speak with him.  Harshnag laments the things he has had to do to his people to protect the world from their actions.  He loves his people and doesn’t know how it has all ended up like this.  He is also worried he won’t know what to ask the oracle when the time comes. 

Kin joins the conversation, he and Harshnag reminisce on years of travelling alone through lands that are not their homeland. Kin has been travelling 150 years and now nowhere seems like home to him. 

Harshnag eventually heads to bed but is gone in the morning when the party awakens.  They are told he has headed out before them to scout the area.  They meet him as they are leaving the keep. He has checked the lands to the north of Zymorven Hall which are separated from their destination by a large forest.  He says it looks possible to traverse but could be dangerous and may end up taking longer than travelling back to the teleportation circles.  The party opted for the safer path in an attempt to get to the oracle as quickly as possible.  

On the way back to Mirabarr they meet a knight and noble lady rescuing 2 kids from a home that was destroyed. The noble is Lady Hawkwinter and the party suggest that she speak to Sandy to get some aid. 

As they pass the shrine the cloud giants were investigating, everyone pops in to take a look.  The walls of the shrine are covered in the feats of the hero enshrined in stone in the inner chamber.  He fought to protect a shrine in the north and a sea monster of heroic proportions in the Shae isles.  There is something in the battle that related to a black heart but it is unclear exactly what that relates to. 

When they get to Everlund, they leave their horses with Drav.  Next, they stock up on everything they might need on their adventures through the snowy barren wastelands of the north.  A lot of stuff is purchased and then they head to the teleportation circle.  Pritstick is now sporting an adorable winter jacket and all the party is armorless for fear of frost burn.  In the blink of an eye, they appear in Mirabarr. 

In Mirabarr, Dunbarr chats to some local dwarves.  He learns of the amazing profits they make mining here and the success they have in the city.  He also learns the town is run they the council of Sparkling Stones (a very serious dwarf group running the city).  The dwarf empire in these parts is very underground.
