17th July 2022 - Session 47 - Battle in the Basement - Lisa
Kin is heading to meet the Emerald Enclave. He puts his hood up as he arrives at the entrance of a big building to remain anonymous.
Kin is looking for Jesop. While walking through he also recognises Keir and Umbra but sneaks past unnoticed. Kin arrives at Jesop’s room and initiates the secret knock.
Kin tells Jesop about the wacky adventures he’s on. Kin tells Jesop about the conches and the search for the relics.
Jesop and the Enclave have been searching for the storm giant's lair.
Serissa (the storm giant king’s daughter) might be an ally and she might know where her father is.
Someone might be working against the Enclave and blocking their communications.
Eagles can’t find the lair either.
Jesop offers to help the quest to find the storm king. Serissa’s mother was actually an ally to Neverwinter, Queen Neri was her name and she passed away 20 years ago.
Jesop asks to pass on a message and keep an eye out for an Enclave leak/spy.
Kin suggests a Rebecca Vardy / Colleen Rooney plan to weed out the spy.
Kin trusts Jesop. Jesop says mucus is linked to an ancient creature.
Kastan was investigating it in the Wizard Tower.
Kin sends a message to Kastan that he's on the way to meet Kastan at 4 p.m.
The party meet back at the fountain. Dunbarr struggles with a moral dilemma.
Graupel gives the hat of disguise to Dunbarr. Dunbarr continues to struggle with his moral dilemma.
Dunbarr turns into a gnome with a guitar.
The party arrived at the Wizard Tower.
A young wizard called Onyx is leaving the tower and spots the party approaching. Onyx says 'Hello. Are you from the Enclave? Kastan is expecting you.'
As they walk in, Dunbarr, Barnabas and Dipple sense magic in the air.
Onyx says Kastan wouldn’t like it if the party cast spells while inside the wizard’s tower.
Lots of young wizards in the area seem flustered. There's a high burnout rate and a Bad Company culture.
Prittstick refused to come inside the Wizard Tower.
The party knock loudly at the entrance to the tower. A voice yells come in. The tower has an internal staircase. The party ascended the staircase going all the way to the top. It's 3 storeys high. They open the door at the top and Kastan can be seen on the other side of the room behind a table of potions. Kastan appears quite young, has a very big cloak and is working away. No one in the party wishes to move towards him. There is something ominous about the floor in the centre of the room.
Dipple pulls out a panther from his grey bag of tricks. Dipple tells it to walk across to Kastan but it just lays down on the ground.
Kin and Kastan talk about the Emerald Enclave. Kastan says the mucus was from an old creature.
The party spend a while trying to remember how exactly they got the mucus.
Kastan explains that his tower is full of young wizards because the old wizards can't keep up with Kastan's teaching. He seems confused and displeased that he is being asked questions in an accusatory tone.
Dunbarr starts accusing Kastan of killing people to rise up the ranks. Kastan tenses up. Dunbarr removes his hat of disguise. Kastan doesn't recognise Dunbarr.
Kastan admits to causing a lot of damage to the town of Triboar. Kastan says he didn't mean to kill anyone.
Dipple asks Kastan to look at a magic cup. As the cup travels across the room it glimmers briefly.
Kastan says the cup is rubbish and throws it across the room. Dipple brings it back via mage hand.
Kastan says what happened in Triboar was a one-off and asks the party to leave.
Kastan tells the party to stop investigating the ancient creatures.
Dunbarr threatens Kastan with violence if he's lying.
The party leaves the room, Barnabus turns into a spider and re-enters the room.
Kastan has jars of aboleth mucus. He's up to something. He has lots of ocean paraphernalia. The spider notices glimmering symbols.
Dunbarr tries to communicate with the Spidernabus and fails.
Dunbarr tells Kin there's a secret door and to check on the structure of the building from the outside.
The tower is bigger than the room they were in. Dunbarr investigates the tower wall structure.
He finds another staircase. Some of the party are considering going down the staircase.
Barnabus casts breath underwater for the whole party. Kin is off elsewhere on another mission.
The party head downstairs. The room gives off evil lair vibes.
There are pools of red water. There is a stepped mound with a vase on top.
Symbols on the ground with pools of blue water in the centre.
The red liquid is pouring out of the vase. Dipple commands the panther to put his paw in the water. He licks it and whines.
Dipple tells the panther to jump in. Glyphs start to glow around the blue pool.
The plinth starts to open. Four party members roll initiative.
Two creatures are inside the plinth. They start walking out.
The party hears footsteps on the stairs behind. Dunbarr and Graupel go right. Dipple and Bearnabus go left.
The two water creatures attack the panther. They’re made of flowy water but humanoid.
Dipple casts crown of madness and hits.
Kastan enters and asks why we're attacking the water elementals. Kastan wants to sacrifice us as he thinks we're his students.
Dunbarr unveils himself and is stunned by Kastan.
Bearnabus says he's a wizard called Greg but isn't believed.
Dunbarr successfully unstuns himself.
The two water creatures attack each other.
The panther attacks a creature.
Graupel throws the sneezing powder at Kastan and catches Dipple as well.
